This map of the late 19th Century shows the village now called High Mickley.

This is an ancient settlement which can be traced back to the middle ages (see 'Micalee - A Northumberland villlage' by Ivan Seymour).

Much of the housing can still be identified today. The school and smithy are now houses. Some new housing has been built, mainly along Bowlers Hill.
