In the late 19th century Mickley Square consisted of terraced colliery houses. These houses were demolished after WW2 and replaced by a new housing estate 'Riding Dene' - named after the stream on the map. The present day school can be seen. Riding Terrace and houses around Riding House were built in the 20th Century. ________________ |
