Hexham Constituency Results

This is the best showing in the constituency for nearly 20 years - and clearly re-enforces the upward trend shown in other recent elections. Congratulations to Andrew and all those who helped with the campaign.

At National level the Liberal Democrats made further gains with the total parliamentary seats now standing at 62

Liberal Democrat Gains include Birmingham Yardley, Brent East, Bristol West, Cardiff Central, Dunbartonshire East, Hornsey and Wood Green, Inverness & Nairn,  Leeds North West, Manchester Withington, Rochdale, Cambridge, Falmouth and Camborne  all gained from Labour

Lib Dem gains from Conservative include Taunton, Solihull, Westmorland and Lonsdale. They also gained Ceredigion from Plaid Cymru..

Congratulations to to Tim Farron in Westmorland and Lonsdale for the best result in the Northern region - ousting the Tory Tim Collins

Liberal Democrat County Election Results

The final totals for votes cast for candidates in the county elections  across all 17 seats was

Liberal Democrat    14078 (33.5%)

Labour     10603  (25.3%)

Conservative    17068  (40.7%)

This puts the Liberal Democrats in a clear second place
