K3 CAMPAIGNERS JOIN LIBDEMS

Liberal Democrats in Northumberland have welcomed the announcement by the K3 party campaigning for middle schools that they are to disband and join forces with the Liberal Democrats.

At a surprise press conference in Morpeth on Thursday 31st March, John Harrison, leader of the former K3 party said:

"We have joined the Liberal Democrats as their policy on schools reorganisation is very similar to our own.

"We felt it was not in the interests of Northumberland residents to have two parties fighting against each other at the County elections with the same policy, that risked splitting the vote and letting Labour back in.

"There is now a very clear choice for residents on 5th May between an arrogant Labour administration that is not prepared to listen to parents, let alone respect their views, and the real alternative of the Liberal Democrats."

Cllrs Andrew Duffield and Simon Reed, who were also present were delighted by the announcement made by K3, and echoed the sentiments expressed by John Harrison.

Andrew Duffield said:

"Liberal Democrats do not accept the 'one size fits all' proposals made by Labour, and would look at local solutions to local problems of surplus places and repair of school buildings."
