| The recent Boundary Commission recommendations would replace Tynedale District Council and Northumberland County Council with a single (Unitary Authority). They have recommended a choice between the following 2 possibilities:
1) A new unitary authority comprising Tynedale, Castle Morpeth, Alnwick and Berwick (Rural Northumberland) 2) A new unitary authority comprising the whole of the current Northumberland County Council including all the current District Councils .............see links below......... |

Following the Referendum Vote to reject an elected North-East Assembly the above recommendations have been placed 'on hold', although in the referendum the first choice (Rural Northumberland) received the greatest support. |
